These extraordinary allegations on British television look very much like a case of Déjà vu (for Kiwi’s at least), a reminder of the phenomena best described by author and academic Lynley Hood in her award winning book; “A City Possessed” the story of an innocent man Mr Peter Ellis and an investigation that also turned into a media driven “Witch Hunt”.
So what do these two cases have in common? You guessed it yet another “self styled” sanctimonious (ex low rent) New Zealand media personality, Phillip Schofield, a man that has apparently set himself up as master of this particular hunt.
Update 16/11/2012
Seems that Lauda Finem got it right, yet again. Media driven witch hunts ruin more than reputations they destroy lives and cost the innocent targets thousands; this case however cost the nasty little finger pointers for a change:
BBC pays McAlpine £185,000
Conservative peer Lord McAlpine has reached a £185,000 compensation settlement plus costs with the BBC over false claims made in a Newsnight report that incorrectly linked him to a child sex abuse scandal.

UPDATE (11/11/2012):
BBC head apologises for airing false abuse claims (ABC)
Victim apologises to former MP for abuse claims (ABC)
BBC chief George Entwistle quits over sex-abuse report (The Australian)
Its all to easy for self interested media zealots to get the upper hand in this sort of media feeding frenzy and then destroy innocent peoples lives.
We here Lauda Finem are currently working long hours to bring readers a series of posts that will, at least in New Zealand, be explosive. The Peter Ellis case revisited (written and published by men and women, citizens of a foreign jurisdiction, where New Zealand court issued name suppression orders, designed to protect corrupt politicians and their suck-hole relatives, hold absolutely no sway)
